Gryphus 2: Upgrades and Enhancements
5-Bottom Surface Vents:
Now featuring five bottom-surface vents, strategically sized and positioned for optimal performance. This design delivers faster, more symmetrical inflation for rock-solid pressurization, even during low-airspeed deployments. It also greatly improves sink stability during deep-brake flight.
Improved Rear-Riser Handling:
By refining the trim and subtly shifting the aerodynamic center of pressure aft, we unlocked sharper rear riser control without sacrificing front riser performance or general stability. Expect snappier riser response, quicker heading corrections, and a very stable canopy in any flight configuration.
Built Tougher:
Critical load areas feature U.S.-made Mil-Spec webbings and tapes. Line attachment points are tested to 570 lbs (42% stronger than industry norms), and center leading-edge reinforcements now withstand over 800 lbs — double that of standard BASE canopies. Durability is non-negotiable: we can’t control how hard you push your gear, but we made sure your canopy can handle more.
Hybrid Construction:
Despite the added vents and reinforcements, the Gryphus 2 retains the original’s low weight and pack volume. By strategically trimming material in non-critical areas and balancing structural reinforcements, we optimized strength without compromise. The result: heavy-duty durability with ultralight packability.
Semi-Rigid ZP Nose:
We first began using Porcher’s semi-rigid double-coated ZP in 2023 and remain the only BASE manufacturer to implement it on canopies. This material offers lower parasitic drag, quicker openings, improved glide, and extended canopy lifespan. You’ll feel the difference from your very first pack job and jump.
Airfoil Design:
Building on the proven Gryphus profile, we used advanced CFD analysis to fine-tune performance, achieving industry-leading glide, powerful flare, and exceptional stability across the full flight envelope—including deep-braked and reverse flight. The Gryphus 2 flies backward better than any canopy we’ve ever seen!
